Miami Dolphins: NFL Network predicts all of team's 2023 games - Dolphins Wire

The Miami Dolphins made the postseason last year for the first time since 2016, and now, in their second season under Mike McDaniel, they’re looking to do so again.

With a high-powered offense and loaded defense, the Dolphins have all of the tools necessary to make it happen.

Miami’s schedule is one of the more difficult in the NFL, but if McDaniel’s team plays up to their capabilities and stays healthy, they should be contenders by year’s end.

We shared our extremely early game-by-game predictions for the Dolphins’ schedule when it was released last month. Now, NFL Network’s Adam Rank has done the same.

Here’s a look at how Rank views each contest playing out for the Dolphins in 2023, which would certainly cause some drama.

George Riddle, Actor on ‘The Onion News Network’ and ‘The Fantasticks,’ Dies at 86 - Hollywood Reporter

George Riddle, who portrayed the crusty gold prospector turned presidential candidate Joad Cressbeckler on the 2011 IFC comedy The Onion News Network and enjoyed a long run on the stage in The Fantasticks, has died. He was 86.

Riddle died Friday of duodenal cancer in North Plainfield, New Jersey, his longtime friend Christie Wagner told The Hollywood Reporter.

During his 65-year career, the colorful Riddle showed up in such films as Arthur (1981), The Innkeepers (2011) and The Kitchen (2019) and on episodes of shows including The Sopranos and Inside Amy Schumer.

The former circus performer also played Civil War General George Crook in the 1988 telefilm The Trial of Standing Bear, narrated by William Shatner.

On The Onion News Network, Riddle gained a legion of fans with his turn as the irascible, wildly opinionated Cressbeckler, whose predictions and political analysis were peppered with malapropisms and nonsequiturs.

Riddle logged more than 5,000 performances as The Old Actor in The Fantasticks, the longest-running off-Broadway play, starting with the musical’s debut at The Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village in 1960.

He portrayed the Major General in the Broadway revival of Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, which debuted at the Uris Theatre in 1981, and he joined The Will Rogers Follies as Clem Rogers in 1992 for a three-year tour around the country, earning a Barrymore Award nomination when the musical stopped over in Philadelphia.

He also appeared on Broadway in Anything Goes in 1988-89 and Stage Door Charley in 1995.

Born on May 21, 1937, in Auburn, Indiana, Riddle — who said he was a descendant of the Mayflower settlers — started out in the circus, but after a fall from the high wire, he turned to a safer pursuit: acting.

He made his acting debut at the Fred Miller Theatre in Milwaukee in 1956 and his onscreen debut in the Marshall Brickman film Simon (1980), starring Alan Arkin. His final career credit came for a turn on the Apple TV+ series Little Voice in 2020.

A member of The Magic Castle in Hollywood, Riddle amassed a collection of theater and film memorabilia in his East Village penthouse apartment and loved cars and motorcycles. His main mode of transportation around New York for years was his 1941 Harley-Davidson.

He and Joan Crawford’s daughter Christina (the author of Mommie Dearest) lived together for several years, Wagner noted.

Survivors include his son, René; brother Robert; sister Mary Ellen; and six grandchildren.

Bears predicted to have 12-5 record in 2023 by NFL Network Analyst - NBC Sports

There are reasons to be optimistic for the Bears this year. Justin Fields has had his crispest start to a summer program in his second year with Luke Getsy. Fields also appears to have had no issues getting into a groove with new No. 1 wideout DJ Moore. An influx of talent on the offensive line should help keep Fields upright more often.

Add it all together, and it’s understandable that many expect the Bears to climb out of the NFL’s basement in 2023. Taking a look at the big picture, just four more games this year would represent a big improvement and set the team up to push for the postseason in 2024. NFL Network analyst, and noted Bears fan, Adam Rank believes the Bears will put their rebuild in hyper drive, however. In a video published on Saturday, Rank predicted the Bears would go 12-5 this season.

Rank’s impressive campaign for the Bears begins with a quick start against the Packers and Buccaneers.

“You think I’m going to pick the Bears to lose Week 1 to the Aaron Rodgers-less Packers?” Rank said. “No way.”

He has the Bears losing their first game of the year in Week 3 at Arrowhead Stadium.

“Matt Nagy, offensive coordinator for the Kansas City Chiefs? Nah, I gotta be somewhat realistic here.”

That loss must’ve been a hard-fought battle that gave the Bears confidence, because in Rank’s world it sparked a four-game win streak. Following the loss to the Chiefs, Rank has the Bears beating the Broncos, Commanders, Vikings and Raiders. The Bears face a mini hiccup in Weeks 8 and 9, when they drop two road games to the Chargers and Saints. Then, Rank has the team getting back on track on Thursday Night Football with a win over the Panthers. The Bears then use the extra time to help them travel to Detroit for another big divisional victory.

“I know everyone loves the Lions this year, but give me a win there.”

The Bears’ dreams of going undefeated in the NFC North die in Week 12, where Rank chalked up a loss to the Vikings in Minnesota. The bye week doesn’t help in Rank’s world, and the Bears drop another game to the Lions at home in Week 14.

That puts the Bears at 8-5 heading into the final quarter of the season. If that’s the case they will be firmly in the hunt for the playoffs, and Rank believes they’ll surge into the postseason with four straight wins.

“Matt Eberflus knows what to do to handle DeShaun Watson (in a win against the Browns. Oh, this works out perfectly. Win over the Cardinals, win over the Falcons who I actually think are going to be very good, and close it outăƒŒ yeah highlight that!ăƒŒ that’s a win at Lambeau.”

If things work out in real life like they did in Rank’s prediction, then we’ll probably be talking about postseason awards for guys like Fields and Eberflus. Realistically, a turnaround of that caliber would take mammoth improvements all over the roster, not just with Fields and the offense. Rank recognizes his predictions might not be exactly objective, either.

“I might be very biased. I might be very one-sided. But I have the Bears with 12 wins this year. Meme me.”

NFL Network predicts outcome of every Bears game in 2023 - Chicago Bears Wire

The Chicago Bears are coming off a three-win season where they earned the No. 1 pick in the NFL draft. But after improvements across the roster and Justin Fields’ development, there are high expectations for Chicago heading into 2023.

The Bears schedule is middle of the pack in terms of strength, and there are plenty of opportunities for wins. Especially when you consider how Matt Eberflus kept arguably the NFL’s worst roster competitive throughout the 2022 season.

We shared our way-too-early game-by-game predictions for the Bears schedule back in May. Now, NFL Network’s Adam Rank, a noted Bears fan, is doing the same.

Here’s a look at how Rank sees each game shaking out for the Bears in 2023, which includes a surprising record.

Week 1 | vs. Green Bay Packers | Win (1-0)

Week 2 | at Tampa Bay Buccaneers | Win (2-0)

Week 10 | vs. Carolina Panthers | Win (7-3)

Week 11 | at Detroit Lions | Win (8-3)

Week 12 | at Minnesota Vikings | Loss (8-4)

Stephen Maturen/Getty Images

Week 13: BYE (8-4)

Charles LeClaire-USA TODAY Sports

Week 14 | vs. Detroit Lions | Loss (8-5)

Daniel Bartel-USA TODAY Sports

Week 15 | at Cleveland Browns | Win (9-5)

Scott Galvin-USA TODAY Sports

Week 16 | vs. Arizona Cardinals | Win (10-5)

Week 17 | vs. Atlanta Falcons | Win (11-5)

Kevin C. Cox/Getty Images

Week 18 | at Green Bay Packers | Win (12-5)

Dan Powers/USA TODAY NETWORK-Wisconsin

Final Record: 12-5

Quinn Harris/Getty Images

Rank is quite optimistic about Chicago’s chances this season, where a 12-5 record puts them in a position to win the NFC North and return to the playoffs. The Bears’ only losses in this scenario are to the Chiefs, Chargers, Saints, Vikings and Lions. Chicago also sweeps the Packers as the Jordan Love era gets underway. Considering the Bears only won three games last season, it would be quite the leap. But there are plenty of winnable games on the schedule for a Chicago team that improved this offseason.

They will replace Dana, John Wiley & Sons, SunPower, Ingevity, Fulton Financial, Douglas Emmett, Victoria's Secret, Macerich, SiTime and Navient. Those companies will move to the S&P SmallCap 600 from the S&P MidCap 400. They will replace PetMed Express, Comtech Telecommunications, Eagle Pharmaceuticals, Children's Place, Rayonier Advanced Materials, LivePerson, Gannett, DMC Global, Genesco and Zumiez.

Companies moving to the S&P MidCap 400 are more representative of the mid-cap market space, and companies moving to the S&P SmallCap 600 are more representative of the small-cap market space, according to S&P.

"Companies being removed from the S&P SmallCap 600 are no longer representative of the small-cap market space," S&P said.
