Michigan Set to Equip Two Roads for Self-Driving Vehicles - Legal Examiner

jaringankabar.blogspot.com

Earlier this month, the State of Michigan announced that approximately 40 miles of two roadways would be modified to include a lane dedicated to self-driving vehicles.  The “autonomous corridor” would extend from Ann Arbor to Detroit.  According to reports, the project will begin with a two-year feasibility study that will include examining costs and financing options.

Although the details remain to be seen, it is expected that the final project will include road sensors, cameras, weather detection, and vehicle-to-vehicle communications equipment.

Michigan has always been a leader in automotive technology, and autonomous vehicles are slowly but surely becoming more practicable.  And while driverless cars theoretically bring numerous benefits, so far they are not (and may never be) a 100% safe alternative to conventional vehicles.
