Bucky Brooks Sees Jamal Adams as Seahawks' X-Factor
Jamal Adams has enjoyed a record-setting first season with the Seahawks in 2020. He missed four games due to injury, but he still set the single-season sack record by a defensive back (8.5) with three games remaining. Adams has a chance to shatter the record, which he said he aims to do.
For the Seahawks, Adams is catching fire at the perfect time. He has a sack in three straight games and in five of six games since returning from injury. With the end of the regular season fast approaching, Seattle needs that continued production from Adams.
NFL Network analyst Bucky Brooks – who was a Seahawks scout after retiring as an NFL player – believes Adams will be the difference-maker down the stretch for Seattle.
"I learned that Jamal Adams is the X-factor to the Seattle Seahawks' title hopes," Brooks explained. "When they gave up picks to bring Jamal Adams over (from the Jets), there was outrage. 'How could you give up so much to bring over Jamal Adams, a guy who doesn't get interceptions?' But Pete Carroll had a vision for how he wanted to play his defense. Jamal Adams is the Seahawks' best pass rusher and they're using him like that. They're putting him in the box, letting him go after the quarterback. He has 8.5 sacks and he's making an impact each and every week. Considering he's only played in nine (of 13) games, the sky's the limit for how he can impact this defense and help them get on their way as they make a run at another Lombardi."
