Swiss rolling stock manufacturer Stadler, who holds the contract to supply Berlin’s new metro cars, has chosen Knorr-Bremse to deliver the braking, entrance and HVAC systems for the new trains.
The contract, which is currently for 606 cars. However, the framework agreement with Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) includes additional options so that the total number of cars to be equipped could rise to 1,500. As part of its contract with Stadler, Knorr-Bremse will also supply replacement parts and deliver digital maintenance services for 32 years.

Knorr-Bremse says this order is worth in the low three-digit millions of euros and is its largest multi-system order to date in its collaboration with Stadler. Knorr-Bremse will start delivering on this contract from the last quarter of this year and complete the order by the end of 2026.
