The Equip Ministries competed in the Cal Ripken State Tournament this past weekend. The U11 and U12 teams both reached the championship round....
U11 -- The U11 team lost to Southwest Forsyth in the finals in Matthews, N.C., Sunday afternoon, by a score of 10-0. Brandon Forrest for the Southwest Athletics tossed the shutout. The game was a pitchers duel at 1-0 (Forrest solo home run was the difference at that point) through the middle of the third inning before Southwest put together a huge inning and broke the game open.
Equip had three hits in the loss. As a finalist in the Cal Ripken State Tournament, Equip U11 receives an automatic berth to the Cal Ripken Regional Tournament in Fredericksburg, Virginia.
U12 -- The U12 team lost to Surry County, 14-1. They finished tied for third in the state. Clemmons-Southwest Athletics defeated Surry County 12-9 in the finals.
U9 -- Defeated Clemmons-Southwest Athletics 8-4 on Sunday.
