LOUISVILLE, Ky. (KT) – The Kentucky Baptist Convention’s EQUIP Tour is back on the road with 10 stops throughout the commonwealth in August and September.

Steve Rice, the KBC team leader for church consulting & revitalization, said EQUIP is “one of the most important training opportunities that we offer.

“The goal of the EQUIP Tour is to provide helpful, practical training that will equip church staff, leaders and volunteers to serve their churches with confidence and with excellence,” he said.

Training with experienced church leaders will be offered in the following categories: Assimilation, Children’s Ministry, Cooperative Program, Deacon Ministry, Discipleship, Evangelism, Finance, Missions, Revitalization, Social Media, Students, Sunday School, WMU, Women’s Ministry and Worship & Music.

“EQUIP is one of my favorite experiences of the year,” said Darryl Wilson,  the Sunday school and discipleship consultant for the church consulting team. “It comes as most ministries are gearing back up for a new year. Many new leaders come seeking a better understanding of the role they have been asked to fill. And experienced leaders come for reminders about important basics, as well as new ideas for serving effectively.”

Rice said pastors should look to their own church leaders and urge them to attend an EQUIP training.

“When I served as a pastor, I always tried to take a large group of volunteers from my church because I knew they could receive excellent training and we would have good fellowship coming and going to the event,” he said.

For this year’s EQUIP Tour, all KBC teams are participating along with the WMU.

“This year as churches come following COVID-19, EQUIP offers many conferences designed to help them take essential steps to rebuild ministries and, more importantly, to move forward to reach Kentucky and the world for Christ,” Wilson said. “It is impossible to go back to the way things were. But right now is a pivotal time to care, reach out and redream the dream. Praying, planning and training are essential. EQUIP can help leaders as they make plans to move forward.”

Ten training locations across the state will be available. The conference is on weeknights from 6 to 9 p.m.

“With 10 locations there will be least one EQUIP Tour stop within driving distance of every church in Kentucky,” Rice said.
