Chip Merritt announced as Director of Privateer Sports Network - crescentcitysports.com

Chip Merritt

NEW ORLEANS – The University of New Orleans athletic communications department announced the promotion of Chip Merritt to the Director of the Privateer Sports Network on Friday.

Merritt will lead UNO’s transition with streaming on the ESPN platform, the first time in school history that university athletics has had a full-time home on the national ESPN platform.

“Chip does a tremendous job producing our streams and the move to a full-fledged production on ESPN+ does not happen without his expertise,” added Kelvin Queliz, UNO Associate Athletic Director for Marketing, Communications & Digital. “As we expand his role, we are excited to increase our output on the Privateer Sports Network and the ESPN platforms.”

Along with leading the Privateer charge with ESPN, the New Orleans area native will remain in his role as the Sports Information Director for men’s golf and will add the newly created Pom program to his SID duties. He will also have a heavy focus on the department’s video production needs.

Merritt has been on the Lakefront for nearly a decade in various roles and was most recently the Coordinator of Athletic Communications. The Metairie, La. native also has experience with the New Orleans VooDoo (AFL), New Orleans Zephyrs/Baby Cakes (MiLB) and Crescent City Sports.
