The Equip Ministries 8U team turned in a second place finish at the Top Gun Tournament in Mocksville, N.C., Friday night.
Equip 8U reached the finals by knocking off P413 16-14 in eight innings in the semifinal round. Hickson Beekman was the hero with a three-run double in the eighth inning. Equip 8U had loaded the bases with just one out before Beekman back-breaking blow. Equip 8U scored six runs in the frame.
Nathan Dilley, Lawson Isaacs, Austin McLean and Bryce Sutherland each went 5-for-7 at the plate. Equip 8U lost to Dash City from Winston-Salem in the finals, 14-7.
