MOCKSVILLE, NC - The Equip Ministries 8U team finished its season on Friday night. The 8U team knocked off the Lexington Rogue 14-4 in the quarterfinal round.
Equip pounded out 23 hits in the lopsided win. The 8U team got off to a fast start, scoring five times in the top of the first, and finally breaking the game open with five more runs in the sixth. Isaac Burroughs and Greyson Powers led the attack as each player went 3-for-4 on the night. Jaxon Chlarolanzio and Lawson Issacs each had three runs-batted-in. Equip pitching, despite giving up 14 hits, kept Lexington scoreless for four innings, and they also stranded nine runners.
But Equip was upended in the semifinals by Rockies-Black, the eventual champion, 14-4. Rockies-Black scored three times in the top of the first inning, but Equip responded with three runs of its own in the bottom of the first. Unfortunately, Rockies-Black had big innings in the second and fourth frames to break the game open.
Equip was the only team to score on Rockies-Black in the tournament. Burroughs and Hickson Beekman both went 2-for-2 in the loss.
